In 2015, DanseSport Quebec launched its promotion and education program in dance sport and its aim was to raise awareness of this activity and boost young people’s interest in a sport that is like no other. This program which is called “So … WE DANCE?” is structured in a fun way and makes it possible for children to understand what Latin and Standard dances are.
DanseSport Quebec is a non-profit organization created in 1972 and dedicated to the growth and development of the sport of dance. Furthermore, the federation is recognized by the Ministère de l’Éducation et de l’Enseignement supérieur du Québec as well as SPORTSQUÉBEC. DSQ (DanseSport Québec) is also a member of Canada DanceSport (CDS) who represents us at the world level via World DanceSport Federation (WDSF).
SPORTSQUEBEC is a private corporation with a global approach to sport. It assumes the leadership of the federated sport in Quebec by promoting and defending the interests of the sports community and by managing sports programs at the Quebec and Canadian levels.
The World DanceSport Federation – WDSF is the world governing body for DanceSport. It was founded 1957 under the name International Council of Amateur Dancers in Wiesbaden, Germany, and is now a non-governmental international organisation constituted under Swiss law. It has its Headquarters at Maison du Sport Intrnational in Lausanne, Switzerland.
The mission of WDSF is to regulate, administer and develop DanceSport. For the benefit of millions of athletes at every level and on all continents!
